Sunday, April 17

Today was a day of sun. We were up early and at the dock at 7:15 AM to start our excursion along the Napoli Coast. The above was taken early on- with the flat land around Waimaea in the back ground. Great breakfast on board- danish and pinneapple. Yum.
We saw both dolphins
and whales
early in the day and these photos really do not do them full credit. There were a lot of dophins near us - in / out of the water, but hard to catch on camera. And there were 2 whales, a mother and her babe- again hard to catch on camera as they came up and went down again.
Then it was on to tour the coast- truly magnificent and pretty - will use photos to say more- note the caves, waterfalls, etc. :
We also went snorkeling on the way back -- but no photos, as can't take the camera into the water- really fun- the best part was when we noted a large sea turtle swimming towards shore and were able to follow it for about  5 minutes -- until it got closet to shore than we were supposed to go. That was the best!
So, had lunch on board, a pleasant trip back complete with another look at the whales. Back home by 1:30pm.
Had a gentle afternoon- nap and laundry - felt that we had had enough sun for the day. Then, around 6 PM we went to Salt Pond Beach-- for a swim and a really pretty sunset:
Then dinner, and now bedtime. Tomorrow.... weather permitting - another hike and another try at seeing Waimea Canyon. So stay in touch for our update tomorrow.
Love to you all, Deb/Neal

  1. Sounds like all your plans are working out well. It's great to be that close to nature. I hope your next hike in the canyon has better weather and visibility. I really liked that boat trip up the coast.
